 
The Drivers Edge had a one day event on Saturday October 24th at Eagles Canyon Raceway. these one day events are their instructor school day and they open up the event to anyone other than novices... and with one less run group to deal with... that means we get 5 sessions instead of the usual 4. Jennifer, my sister Nancy, and 2 of her good friends came out to the track to watch the cars. Jennifer because I'm trying to get her more interested in this car 'stuff'... Nancy wanted to check out the layout of the track... having gotten the track bug over at MSR... and her 2 friends are car nuts. I've been wanting to get more pics of me on the track... so I got an idea to teach Nancy to not only use the Canon for the first time... but also to go out and try panning track cars... at speed. So I set up the camera for panning... showed her how to use the camera and the basics of panning on the run group just before I ran my second session... then cut her loose. Nothing to it. So other than a couple of panning pics to show Nancy the basics... most of these pictures were taken by Nancy. For having never used a D-SLR or never even tried to pan before... I think they turned out pretty good. So we'll start off with Nancy's best photo of the day... barely cropped I might add... heading down the front straight. 
There were a couple of track prepared Camaros making their first ever track runs at EC on Saturday.
And... Nancy's a big fan of anything Porsche.... Just sayen.

Chuck's CMC Camaro unfortunately had oil pressure issues.
One of the best things that happened was getting Jennifer a ride with Renee in her 350Z. Renee is one of TDE's instructors and drives at a track pretty much every weekend for TDE or some other group. The short story is that while sitting around the table and talking car stuff and noticing Jennifer's lack of participation... Renee offered to take her for a ride in her car in my run group... she would ride with Renee while following me around the track at speed to get a taste of what this track stuff was all about. I'm guessing the peer pressure was too much and she gave in to the ride. After borrowing a helmet from Chuck... we gridded up beside each other and started the session. Renee was not tracking the 350 this weekend so she didn't have her track tires on... so after driving at a semi fast pace with them behind me... I got back on speed and left them behind. After the session Jennifer was grinning ear to ear and said that she really enjoyed the ride. She might finally get it. w00t! Jennifer and Renee on the grid.
